Molasses spice cookies are a tried and true family favorite. This easy recipe is a great addition to your Christmas cookie trays and easy enough to bake any day of the week.

How to Make Molasses Cookies:
- Cream butter in a mixing bowl until creamy.
- Add sugars and mix 1 minute.
- Next, add molasses, egg and vanilla and beat until combined.
- Add flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and ginger. Mix well.
- Use a cookie scoop to form balls and roll in sugar.
- Place on a greased or lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 11 minutes or until crisp around the edges.
- Remove to a wire rack to cool.
- Store cookies in an airtight container.
This easy cookie recipe is adapted from Simply Recipes Molasses Spice Cookies and is my favorite spice cookie for the holidays. They have crisp edges and chewy middles. So good with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate.

Molasses Cookies
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup softened butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/3 cup sugar for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°.
- In a large mixing bowl, add softened butter and beat until creamy.
- Add sugar and brown sugar and beat until fluffy.
- Pour in molasses, add egg and vanilla and continue to beat until combined.
- Add flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and ginger, mixing well. Scrape down sides if needed.
- Scoop into about 1 1/2 tablespoon size balls and roll in sugar.
- Place on a greased or lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 11-14 minutes or until edges are crisp.
- Remove to a wire rack to cool.
- Store cooled cookies in an airtight container.
omigosh, have not had these in years! My gram used to make them and they are so good!
Hi! remember me from the apple cobbler? Well, I tried making these as well and THEY TASTE SO GREAT! They also taste like gingersnaps. I almost forgot the molasses and then I remembered that these were called molasses cookies so I got it and put it in and they turned out fine! My dad loves them!
