Cajun Chex Mix
Easy appetizers are the best and Chex Mix has been a family favorite snack at our house since I can remember. I usually make batch after batch of the classic recipe for the holidays but this Cajun version might be my new favorite!
How to Make Cajun Chex Mix:
- Melt butter in a large, microwave safe mixing bowl. Add in Worcestershire sauce and blackened seasoning, whisking to combine.
- Add nuts and pretzels along with Rice, Corn and Wheat Chex cereals.
- Mix until well combined.
- Pour onto a large baking sheet – I used a 15 x 17 and bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
- Cool completely and store in an airtight container.
Microwave Method for Chex Mix:
Seasoned cereal, nuts and pretzels can be placed in a microwave safe bowl and cooked on high for 6 minutes, stirring well every two minutes. Spread onto paper towels to cool.
Chex Mix makes a great homemade gift for any occasion and is the perfect snack to bring to everything from cookouts to school parties. You just can’t go wrong with a classic savory snack.

Sounds good Missy. Pretzels come in various sizes and I believe the tiny ones would well here. What say?
BTW. Will you let us know what Your homemade recipe for the blackening seasoning please. I have one that I have not made and I feel it has too much of three types of pepper.
Hi Ed,
You are right on the mini pretzels, they work best. For the blackened seasoning, we use this recipe:
2 tablespoons smoked paprika
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon garlic
1 tablespoon oregano
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1 tablespoon coarse ground black pepper
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper * optional
Now I know the brown sugar is not traditional but it’s worth a try.

could you use cajun seasoning instead of blackened seasoning
Hi Jane,
That works too!
