Cheddar Beer Bread
Cheddar Beer Bread is a simple quick bread made with just a few ingredients. It’s a warm and hearty addition to soups or chili and makes a great grilled cheese sandwich!
We often whip up a batch of Cheddar Bay Biscuits or Cornbread to go with our favorites soups, stews and Chili and this cheddar beer bread is one of the easiest quick breads you can make.
Beer bread has just 7 ingredients and is so simple to whip up to include with a weeknight dinner. No yeast or mixer required for this delicious loaf of cheesy bread! You might also like our Jalapeño Cheddar Cornbread that goes with practically any meal.
Ingredients Needed
- All Purpose Flour
- Sugar
- Baking Soda
- Kosher Salt
- Cheddar Cheese
- Beer (Any beer will work.)
- Butter
If you have self-rising flour, baking soda and salt can be omitted.
How to Make Cheddar Beer Bread
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda and salt.
- Mix in shredded cheese, reserve 1/4 cup for sprinkling over the top.
- Pour in one bottle of beer.
- Add melted butter.
- Mix well.
- Pour batter into a greased 9 x 5 loaf pan.
- Sprinkle reserved cheese over the top.
- Bake for 55 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Run a knife around the edges of the pan and remove loaf to a wire rack to cool slightly.
- Slice and serve with butter.
How to Store and Reheat
Wrap cooled bread tightly in plastic wrap or place in a zip top bag. Store at room temperature up to 2 days or refrigerated up to 5 days.
Toast or serve slices at room temperature.

Cheddar Beer Bread
Ingredients
- non-stick cooking spray
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
- 12 ounces beer any brand will work, we used Guinness
- 1/4 cup melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Spray a 9 x 5 loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray or coat with butter.
- Add flour, sugar, baking soda and salt to a mixing bowl and stir together.
- Set 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese aside. Mix in remaining shredded cheddar,
- Add one beer and melted butter.
- Mix until well combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Top with reserved shredded cheese.
- Bake for 55 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Run a knife around the edges of the pan and remove loaf to a wire rack to cool slightly.
- Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.
