Sweet and Sour Ground Pork

Sweet and Sour Ground Pork is a quick and easy weeknight dinner that will please the entire family. Ground pork with peppers, onions and pineapple, with homemade sauce served over rice.

Ingredients Needed

Sweet and Sour Sauce

  • Water
  • Pineapple Juice
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Soy Sauce
  • Kosher Salt
  • Corn Starch

Pork Stir Fry

  • Olive Oil
  • Onion
  • Bell Peppers
  • Ground Pork
  • Granulated Garlic
  • Kosher Salt
  • Pepper
  • Pineapple Tidbits, drained
  • Cooked Rice
  • Sesame Seeds
  • Cilantro

Step By Step Directions

Sweet and sour sauce in a pan.

Make the sweet and sour sauce by adding water, pineapple juice, sugar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, salt and corn starch to a saucepan. Whisk together and cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil. Continue whisking until sauce is thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.

Dice the onions and bell peppers and add to a skillet with olive oil. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring often until vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the ground pork to the skillet, season with garlic, salt and pepper. Use a wooden spoon to crumble pork as it cooks until cooked through and no longer pink.

Pour sweet and sour sauce over the pork mixture and add the pineapples.

Cook for 5 minutes until sauce is bubbly.

Recipe Notes

Storage: Store leftover sweet and sour pork in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 3 days. Store rice in a separate container in the refrigerator up to 4 days.

To Reheat: Cook sweet and sour pork in a skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally until heated through. Cook rice in a pan with 1-2 tablespoons of water over medium heat, stirring until heated through.

Variations: This recipe also works well with ground chicken or ground turkey. Add in any vegetables that you have on hand like carrots, celery or broccoli.

The homemade sweet and sour sauce is great for dipping egg rolls and tempura and it’s so easy to make.

Ingredients

  • chopped fresh cilantro optional for garnish

Instructions
