Iced coffee is one of my favorite treats and since I am rarely in town to grab one from the coffee shop, I figured out how to make them at home. It is so simple and you don’t even need a fancy espresso machine!

Ingredients for caramel macchiato coffee.
  • Caramel Syrup – Ice cream syrup or drink syrup.

What is Cold Brew Coffee?

Cold brew coffee is made by soaking coarse ground coffee with water for 12- 15 hours at room temperature. The grounds are strained off and the coffee concentrate has all of the delicious coffee flavors without any of the bitterness and acidity that hot brewed coffee contains.

Cold brew is really simple to make and doesn’t require any fancy equipment. I recently tried out this cold brew maker that makes it super easy, but I’ve also made it in a mason jar with great results.

How to Make Cold Brew Coffee

  1. Use fresh ground coffee, a coarse ground is easier to strain. Place ground coffee into a container and cover with twice as much cold water. Cover and set aside for at least 12 hours or up to 15 hours.
  2. Strain coffee ground out of the brewed coffee and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 1 week.
  3. Enjoy cold brew coffee over ice or as a specialty iced latte.

If you aren’t into making cold brew, you can find some great store bought options or use leftover coffee from your morning brew that has been cooled or chilled.

I love making my cold coffee and I save money by not stopping at the coffee house. The price is very high and I can make this with the ingredients I have at home.
